Independence or autonomy relates to FREEDOM, and having choices. You may have said, “When I retire, I want to do the things I want to do when I want, and live the way I choose.” Perhaps you have also said, or heard your parents say, “I want to be able to make my own decisions, to be independent of my children, and the government.”
These are normal feelings, as we all want to be in control of our lives as much and as long as possible, Everyone wants to be empowered.
